Voki is a great website where kids can create cartoon avatars and either record their voice or type text for the avatar to say.  This can be used as a digital storytelling tool.  Students can record their voice reading their written works.  Voki provides a final product that creates motivation for students to complete a writing project and practice reading fluency.

 A similar site is www.blabberize.com.  This website allows you to upload your own picture and create a moving mouth on it.  Students can create drawings of their characters and they can record themselves as the character to practice first person.  This project provides a great way to talk about character traits and how to portray them in the recording.  It also incorporated voice into their writing.
